Niacinamide, also known as nicotinamide, has a chemical formula of C6H6N2O. It is an amide compound of nicotinic acid (vitamin B3). It is a water-soluble vitamin and a member of the vitamin B family. It is a white crystalline powder and is widely found in animals and plants.
Niacinamide was discovered very early and was originally used to prevent oral inflammation. Later in 1974, a man named Girish Prasad Mathur discovered that nicotinamide can absorb ultraviolet rays to prevent tanning and sunburn, and has whitening effects when studying sunscreen. Therefore, he applied for two patents in 1974 and 1976.

Whitening
The most well-known effect of niacinamide. It has a whitening effect because it can inhibit the deposition of melanin, block the transfer of melanin to surface cells, and accelerate the shedding of keratin containing melanin, thereby reducing the size and number of spots. Therefore, many whitening essences have it as the main ingredient.
Anti-aging
Niacinamide can promote the synthesis of epidermal protein and dermal microcirculation, repair and enhance the skin's barrier function, thereby maintaining skin moisture (moisturizing) and reducing free radical damage to the skin, ultimately achieving the purpose of anti-aging.
Even skin tone and improve redness
This is a byproduct of repairing the skin barrier ability. Many symptoms of skin redness are caused by damaged skin barrier function. After the barrier is repaired, the redness phenomenon can naturally be improved.
Remove yellowing
Glycation is a major cause of yellowing skin color (think braised pork and cola chicken wings), and niacinamide has anti-glycation effect, so it has the effect of removing yellowing.
